Deerhound Club Breed Show 2019 Critique - Dogs

I would like to thank The Deerhound Club for inviting me to judge the dog classes at their Open Single Breed Show and, also to all the exhibitors who supported me with so many quality Deerhounds.  I felt very privileged to be judging at this show which was a pleasurable and enjoyable experience.

DOGS

PD (4,2) 1. Peach’s Erpingham Sebastian of Kilbourne.  This most promising, well proportioned, shapely 9 month old puppy with plenty of bone and substance immediately caught my eye.  Dark eye, strong neck, and good depth of chest.  Good fallaway and low set hocks.  Moved well with confidence.  BPIS  2. Peach’s Kilbourne Merak.  Another well grown 9 month old puppy with good bone.  Handsome head.  Nice depth of chest however, preferred overall topline of (1).  Excellent length from hip to hock.

Martlew’s Claonaiglen Finart.  Initially, it was difficult to assess this harsh coated 4 year old as he was unsettled.  Good bone but not quite the topline of 1.  Good fallaway and nice low set hocks.
